Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Facilities Manager is the overall manager of programs and personnel related to the maintenance of campus buildings and grounds, supervises and reviews the work of subordinates, and performs related professional and technical work as required. This position reports to the VP of Operations.  

The Facilities Manager is accountable for and has oversight of the functional and aesthetic maintenance and upkeep of campus facilities and plant operations. The scope of responsibility includes but is not limited to administrative and academic buildings; residence halls; mechanical/electrical equipment and systems; infrastructure; landscape/grounds; custodial services; transportation equipment; and related capital and non-capital projects as may be needed in support of the mission of the University.

  • Supervises daily work of assistant supervisor and custodians; inspects all assigned areas daily to ensure work is being carried out properly and orderly; prepares and submits work schedules; biweekly payroll. 
  • Evaluates performance of custodial personnel; prepares and submits disciplinary action and incident reports; counsels employees. 
  • Designates shift and area work assignments for custodians and lead personnel; interprets contract; conducts training programs for custodians; implements new procedures and policies. 
  • Maintains records and correspondence; prepares reports; submits purchase requisitions for supplies; maintains supply inventory and accounts; contacts vendors; prepares and submits progress reports on building conditions. 
  • Establishes and monitors working relationships with students, faculty, staff, co-workers, and visitors. 
  • Coordinates various cleaning projects; receives equipment, uniforms, and paper orders; operates all cleaning equipment. 
  • Coordinates setup for events on all campuses and ensures proper staffing. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred but not required if experience is equivalent.

Certifications: CEFP preferred, but not required

Experience: 5-10mdm,e years of educational facilities experience in K-12 or Higher Education.

  • Ability to operate carpet extractor, floor buffers, and various cleaning equipment
