Position Summary
Directs the landscape services and transportation services divisions of Facilities Management at Western Michigan University.
Major Duties
· Directs and plans operational aspects of University Landscape Services. Establishes policies and procedures for the design and maintenance of University grounds and athletic fields.
· Hires, trains and evaluates the performance of full-time and part-time staff.
· Oversees labor relations. Ensures a productive and safe work environment and compliance with human resources policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
· Coordinates and implements plans for future facilities and renovations.
· Manages operating budgets for landscaping and transportation services and equipment.
· Directs and evaluates outdoor maintenance and first impression quality. Identifies and
implements necessary service or operational changes.
· Plans and manages acquisition, maintenance and disposition of equipment and fleet vehicles.
· Directs recycling, sustainability and waste reduction initiatives for the University.
· Represents the department in University planning groups.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
· Five years’ relevant experience.
· Supervisory experience.
· Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
· Project management experience.
· Budget management experience.
· Experience managing contractors or vendors.
· Experience administering a collective bargaining agreement.
